01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of New York City’s vibrant Lexington Avenue corridor, Take Care is an inviting culinary haven that masterfully blends comfort with creative flair. This modern American restaurant, known for its exceptional burger offerings, caters to both casual diners and those seeking a memorable, flavor-packed experience in a warm, stylish atmosphere.

At the core of Take Care’s menu is a dedication to quality and social responsibility, epitomized by their signature Take Care Burger. Featuring a juicy grilled Pat LaFrieda beef patty topped with sharp cheddar, sweet caramelized onions, and a tantalizing jalapeño relish, all nestled in a buttery seeded brioche bun, every bite strikes the perfect balance of richness and spice. What makes this burger even more special is that $1 from each sale supports the NYC Impact Foundation — blending community care with culinary excellence. For those with a heartier appetite, the Double Bacon Burger layers two of LaFrieda’s famed aged beef patties with melted American cheese, smoky bacon, and a decadent bacon jam, rounded out with garlic aioli and pickled red onions. Vegetarians won’t miss out either, thanks to the vibrant Veggie Patty made from a wholesome black bean quinoa blend, topped with fresh tomato, crunchy alfalfa sprouts, and a smoky cashew chipotle aioli.

The sides at Take Care stand out just as boldly. Crispy, golden Fries and Tater Tots provide classic crunch, while adventurous palettes will relish the Crispy Sprouts tossed in fragrant sesame, hoisin, fresh mint, and chili—a clever dance of flavors that is both unexpected and utterly delicious. The Sautéed Bok Choy offers a refreshing, umami kick with soy, sriracha, sesame, and furikake seasoning, rounding out the meal with a vibrant, healthy twist. And no meal would be complete without indulging in Take Care’s decadent sweets such as the rich Cookie Skillet topped with caramel gelato and cookie butter, or the comforting Banana Bread enhanced by subtle matcha butter notes.

The dining atmosphere at Take Care elegantly balances a chic neighborhood vibe with a welcoming warmth, making it ideal for a variety of occasions—from cozy dates and family gatherings to casual evenings with friends. Guests consistently praise the genuine friendliness of the staff and the thoughtful service, creating an environment that feels less like a restaurant and more like a community hub.

Patrons like Léa marvel at the generous portions and quality that belies the fair pricing, noting how it’s a rare find in New York’s dining scene to get such value with sumptuous flavors. Meanwhile, regulars like Paige Roseman laud it as their new favorite local spot, captivated by the friendly ambiance and standout dishes. Whether you're stopping by after a day of shopping on Lexington Avenue or enjoying a night out in the city, Take Care promises a memorable gastronomic journey that nourishes both body and soul.

For those seeking a restaurant experience that combines thoughtfully sourced ingredients, community-minded values, and mouthwatering creations, Take Care is truly a New York treasure worth discovering.

I went to this restaurant with a friend and had a great experience. The food was very good, and the portions were incredibly generous — so much so that I ended up taking a to-go bag, which honestly feels rare in New York, especially considering I ordered a poke with fish. The prices felt more than fair for both the quality and the quantity. The place works perfectly for a date, a family meal, or even eating on your own. What really stood out was the service. The staff was extremely kind and attentive. There was a small issue with one of our appetizers, and they remade it twice. They even came back to ask if we still wanted it — and didn’t charge us for it at all. That level of care really made the experience stand out. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend.

Whether you are staying at The Shelburne, or shopping along Lexington Ave, this restaurant is the perfect vibe for any party size. My sister and I dined here on Friday night and absolutely loved everything- from the Buffalo chicken dip, mac and cheese, and burgers. Service is excellent (ask for Oscar), ambiance beautiful and we had access to the rooftop!
